Tips for hair dye?

I'm going to have someone helping me, but what is the best and easiest way to dye my hair black with a bright red layer underneath? how much hair should i take for the red layer, dye recommendations? my hair is dyed black right now, but it needs to be redone, how difficult will it be to bleach it out for the red?

Well if you already have your hair dyed black.... it's going to be difficult to get it bright red without dying it a couple of times to get the color you want. If your hair is naturally dark, the red will fade fast and become light red within weeks because of all the shampooing. Go with Loreal Feria. Make sure you get shampoo and conditioner that is for colored hair or else the red will fade fast.

Bleaching will damage your hair so my recommendation -- try to use the ones at the drug store to get the closest color (possibly dying to two or three times) OR go to a salon and have them bleach and dye so you can get it done at once.

If you have great hair and take care of it, you should be fine - I dye my hair every other month and it's fine. I have dark black hair (being asian) and I had to dye it at least two to three times just to get it caramel brown so black to bright red.. might take a couple of tries even if you bleach.. and bleaching black hair gets orange not red!

Three choices - do it yourself to save money and if you mess up, then you could either dye it all back to normal OR go to the salon and have them do it if you're really unsure of what you are doing OR have a friend who knows what they are doing to help you out with pick out the dyes (but make sure they really know what they're talking about!)

The colors black and red are the two hardest colors to bleach out of hair. I seriously suggest you see a professional hairstylist, its way to difficult to do it on your own without the help of a professional.
