Hair Dye Backfire!?

I have naturally strawberry blonde hair but i used this Clairol Natural insticts stuff to dye it dark brown. It lookd okay but I really want my natural colour back. The dye was supposed to wash out in 28 days, and it's been longer than that and it's still quite dark (although it has lightened). Why hasn't it washed out yet! Is it possible that my hair is now stuck like this permanently?

Hair Dye Backfire!?

Well after dying your hair you basically made it permanently messed up and getting your natural color back is just about impossible.

Hair Dye Backfire!?

are you sure you used wash out dye in the first place. cause usually it washes out way before the 28 days are up....

Hair Dye Backfire!?

If you're a blonde and you want to go darker, even with semi-permanent hair colours, it'll stain the cortex of your hair shaft. The best way to remove this is to get a colour stripper from a store... or go to your local salon and get them to do it. It's damaging, yes, but hopefully you've learned from this!

Hair Dye Backfire!?

do not lighten your hair or strip it! just wait a few more days and your hair will lighten up if you wait your natural hair color will return the more you do to it the longer it will take to get your natural color back

Hair Dye Backfire!?

You will have to go to a salon and get your hair stripped. Your hair, until it grows out, will never be the same. I don't care what any bottle says temporary dye stays some forever. I've been using dye and bleach on my hair off and on for 15 years. No semi-perm has ever fully come out, ever. It still stains it some.

Anyways, either live with it till it grows out and you can cut the color out, or get it stripped and live with the repercussions of that.

NEVER EVER USE BOXED HAIR COLOR KITS.....

they are all going to ruin your hair.........

just like that.........

yes you may be stuck with that......although you need to read this:

http://killerstrands.blogspot.com/2007/0...

Semi permanents work very well IF...and this is the big IF.....if you buy the tube of color and developer separate.....

The problem lies with the "kits"...there is just no way they can put the proper 2 ingredients in one box that will work for a lot of people.....

Its so upsetting to me that they sell them that way.

Have you ever seen the amount of people on here that write in because their hair is orange or yellow?or your exact problem.....it depends on what you have done to your hair........if you do it incorrectly which happens more times than not......then you will spend 3 times that trying to repair it............trust me.

I was a color correction specialist for over 15 years.....we would call those kits: Job security, there was never any shortage of people coming to the salon to have their hair fixed from the disaster they make

Do NOT buy a BOXED HAIR COLOR KIT.....

they only work on 10% of the people......

because ........

think about this:

what if a red head

a blonde

a brunette

and a black hair person all go into the store to buy that same box of hair color........

which one of the them is going to have the correct color when it is all said and done?

Only one of them............

why? because it matters what color of hair you START WITH as to how the outcome will be...........

On the UNIVERSAL hair color chart that all companies go by....there are a base 12 colors of hair.....

Only 1 of them will get the proper outcome with a boxed hair color..........because each one of them needs a different formula to have the correct result or outcome...

T H E R E F O R E:

there is a 1 in 12 shot you might get the right color

that is not very good and not the numbers I would want with MY OWN hair..........

how about you?

There are plenty of ways to do your hair correctly at home....right now I am teaching HOME HAIR COLORIST 101 %26gt; the Professional Way....on the Blog....to try to help those of you that cannot afford the Salon.....

You should start reading......so you can understand better.....

MY LORD....I will stop reading other peoples POSTS I PROMISE AFTER THIS%26lt;%26gt; the person after this post wrote the complete WRONG advice.....my lord where do these people come from...........Color doesn't lift color............what are you talking about.......???

Boy I feel sorry for you............

Don't give screwy recommendations ...

The one and only thing you should do is this............

Shampoo - shampoo - shampoo......with a clarifying shampoo.......

If you can afford it - there is ONE and ONLY ONE color remover...its called MODULAT and its from a German company called Schwarzkopf.......they have renamed it PHANTOM Color Corrector......it is the one and only color remover that does not use peroxide so there is no damage going on.... but it is not a fast answer.....it takes a while....and if done in a Salon then each treatment is at least $100. you can need up to 2-3 even 4 treatments.....to get some colors out......especially black.....but it works.....

if i were you I would get a hold of some MALIBU 2000 shampoo called UN DOO GOO..... and read on the blog how to do the shampoo train......do that for a week .....see what you end up with........and then email me.......we can go from there........... when you write remind me of the story........i answer dozens of emails every day.......

good luck

Hair Dye Backfire!?

Although semi- permanent colors wash out they don't wash out 100%. There's always pigment left. If you want your natural color back you need to color it but you won't get that light unless you bleach which is very damaging. You can try coloring with a permanent color to a blond which would give you light brown results and then wait a few months and color it again with a lighter blond to get dark blond results. You can also use a color remover which is not as damaging as the bleach but still dries your hair. That would remove the hair dye. The healthiest thing would be to color again, remember depositing color doesn't damage nearly as much as bleaching or removing color, so if you use a light hair color to lighten your hair it won't really damage. And unfortunately, yes, your hair is stuck with that color and the only way to go to your natural color again is using a hair color remover or bleaching and dying it to your color again. I suggest you just color with a lighter shade to get close to your natural color for now.

I used Natural Instincts in red on my virgin hair a while back, it left it really red but it washed out a little bit (not completely either) and I had to use a permanent color to lighten it and make it light brown. Since they contain no ammonia a permanent color should pick up and give results. Next time, always make sure darker is what you want and for a while because dark hair is very very hard to remove. I've done the mistake several times.

Hair Dye Backfire!?

its not stuck permanatly, just different hair

has different reactions to certain products.

just wait it out, it will be back to normal

within the next month or so!

heres some tips to speed up the process:

1. Get some lemon juice, like the kind you

buy at the grocery store thats in the little

yellow plastic thing. On a day where you have

an hour or so of free time, go lay out side by

the pool or just outside. Jump on the pool ( or

just get your hair wet, and then kindof shake it

out so its wet, but not dripping too much. THEN

pour the lemon juice over your head ( the whole

small container) and then lay out in a lawn chair

or float around in the pool ( BUT DONT GET IT WET

FOR ATLEAST 45 MINUTES! ) You can however

keep pouring additional lemon juice on it.

2. Go to the store and buy Pantene Blonde Expressions

or the John Fredia collection. Shampoo and Conditioner!

Use this everyday when you shower.

- IF YOU WANT IT TO GET EVEN LIGHTER

get the shampoo and conditioner out of the shower

and pour a handful of conditioner and half of handful of shampoo into the plastic bowl.

(if anything always use more conditioner than shampoo)

Mix well with a paintbrush ( if doesnt work well, whisk it)

now seperate hair into fourths. one section at a time get

the DAMP (barely wet, more dry) and brush the mixture

into the hair thickly.

SIT THAT OUT FOR 30-45 MINUTES!

then wash out thouroly in the shower.

GOOD LUCK!!

Hair Dye Backfire!?

Nah, it's not permanent. You can either wait for another year for it to wash out fully or you can save up your money and go to a salon to get it fixed. And, I know this may be risky, but if I were you I would just get a dye that was my hair color at a place like Wal-Mart or Target and try to see if it would get my hair color back.

Good luck! Hope it all turns out well.
