Does Dawn really work to remove hair dye?

ive dyed my hair three times in the last few months (i used l'oreal preference, and although it was permanent, it definitely faded)--first i wanted to lighten my light brown hair a little, then i wanted medium brown hair, but when that turned orangey i re-dyed with a lighter brown than the medium brown. although my hair color isnt that drastically different from what it was originally, its just kind of a weirdly tinted color and i want my light brown hair with natural blonde highlights back!...i dont want to dye it any more because i dont want to get into too much of a process of damaging my hair. does Dawn really work to remove/fade hair dye? if so, can you pleaseee tell me how to do this?

No, Dawn does not remove haircolor. It will dry out your hair, though.

What you need to do is go to a salon. They'll probably put a color remover (this is not a stripper, bleach, or lightener) on your hair and then put a light brown color on it. Remember, you need a professional to do this. The color you get at the department store is not professional grade and therefore won't work as well.

Sorry but the only way to fix your hair is to see a professional, and even then it will not be the same as you started with. Good luck getting it how you want it!!

a boy at my school told me it might strip some (a little ) color maybe make u a shade lighter but no really if u messed ur hair up the only way to fix it is to go to a professional....box color over box color is no good for you hair

DON'T do it! It would help strip the color from your hair, but not any better than a product that's made for that. It will completely strip you hair of moisture, dry it out and make it ver unmanageable. It may be expensive, but if you need to correct your haircolor you need to see a stylist. It's a really complicated process, and if you try fixing it yourself it'll just make it worse.

hair color is one of the hardest things to do, even for a pro,, dawn will strip your already damaged hair of more oils,, I'm not a big fan of home hair color product, your a corrective color the moment you walk in a salon, its usually a bit more expensive , but that would be your best bet if you want your natural color with high lites back,,just a hint ,, you can use a dandruff shampoo a couple times to rinse out some of the color.. good luck,,

okay, so i dont think half the people on here nkow what theyre talking about. I am in cosmotology school and yes i know for a fact it does fade color really bad im not sure about lighter colors but i know it does for darker brown. It will dry your how out horribly so i suggest using a good conditioner like Biolages Ultrahydrating Balm. Its very good for your hair..a little expensive but definitely works..You will have to go into a salon to buy it, one that carries Matrix products. I know this because I've seen plenty of mistakes..I'm in beauty school. Either way you got nothing to lose...
