Going to dye my hair at home, need help!?

Ok so i've never dyed my hair at home and im going to go get hair dye soon. My hair is chocolate brown but i want to lighten it like 1 or 2 shades. Any advice about what brands are good and what techniques I can use to dye my hair without ruining it?

Don't get color from a store they are not good for your hair. They have metallic dyes that are not good. Go to Sally's or any beauty supply store and get the color u want with 20 or 30 volume Developer. 20 will lift it one shade lighter and 30 will lift it 2 shades lighter. And follow the directions on how to mix it....it's not hard you should be fine. Since your hair is Virgin (never been dyed) I would go with 20. The10 Volume would just deposit color and not do any lifting.

lots of conditioner afterwards and use a protector before you dye

I would suggest for your first time that you have someone help you who has done it before or go to a salon, I know the first time I did it myself it turned out orange. I was going for a couple shades lighter, blonde. I have no idea how I managed it, but every time afterwards I've had someone help me who knows what they are doing.

Try using nice and easy hair dye

its gentle on your hair and it will only make a subtle change in the appearance of your hair.

Just buy a lighter shade so you can get the results your seeking

you could also buy hair lightener

its not dye is more of a chemical but that can get tricky

As far as applying the hair dye goes just work the dye through your hair like a shampoo

mabey run a comb through it (i do this sometimes) so all the strands are covered with the dye

then pile your hair on top of your head

hope this helped
