Permanent Hair Dye Questions!?

I have a few questions about PERMANENT hair dye since I'm getting my hair done for my Sweet Sixteen. :]

First of all, how long does permanent hair dye really last? Until you dye it again/cut it? Or does it fade just like semi-permanent does?

And were can I buy some? What are some brands you could recommend? I'm looking for the colors: black, hot pink, blue, and purple.

Also, I've heard that Herbatint is a good brand. Has anyone used it? What were your experiences with it?

Permanent hair dye lasts a very long time and sometimes does fade. If you want to put all the colors you listed in your hair it might be a bit difficult. If you want the hot pink, blue and purple to stand out. You will have to bleach the parts you want to put that color in because otherwise its not going to show on black. If your going to do it yourself. be careful. I do my own hair and have had every color you can think of and it is VERY damaging. Especially using bleach. Not sure of the name of the brand of black i used to use. But for bleach i go to sally's beauty supply. It can be a bit expensive. You have to buy to different things. The powder and the cream to mix it with. They have big numbers on them like 16, 23 ect. But i use 40. They also have really good black hair dye that works just ask for the best kind. But if you do go there dont buy the hot pink, blue or purple there it fades VERY fast even if it is permanent. But if its just for your birthday i would just go buy those colors in hair extensions. So you dont damage your hair to much

The permanent dye should last for a very long time. Those funky colors --you can usually only get those at Sallys Beauty Supply.

It depends on how many times you wash your hair if the permanent color fades away as quick as semi-permanent hair dye. Right after you dye your hair and after you wash the dye out don't wash it again for about 2 days so it sets in better and it will not fade as fast as semi-permanent. At Sally's they have the colors you want but they are all semi-permanent. And it does fade faster then if your dying your hair a more natural color. The color does turn out great but you just have to dye it more frequently to have the vibrant color you want. Good luck.

I wear Herbatint once a month more or less sometimes 2 months in the roots...as i have already a few white ones...

If you dye your hair with permanent hair , you to do it in the roots as your hair starts to grow...

The problem of permanent hair dye is make it more dry ....not so shinny...

I advice to dye you hair only if you have some white hair, to cover it.... if not, avoid that much you can ....then use just herbatint, bcs its a natural product...

permanant color stays until it grows out and you cut it off. however you can usually do a tint back to get back to your natural. be careful of those colors you mentioned because you usually have to bleach those strands first then put the color on them for them to be bold the downfall is they fade really fast. i would say since you want it for a very important occasion go to a salon where you will get exactly what you want and they can give you tips on caring for your new color. good luck and happy sweet sixteen.
