Last month I dyed my hair medium blonde than tried to dye light blonde over it to lighten my hair but it didn't work. Then, I just left it alone and it lightened over time. Now, this month, I wanted to dye all of my hair light blonde to get rid of roots and even out the color. Instead, my hair just came out dark blondish or light brown when I used light blonde hair dye. What can I do to lighten it if blonde hair dye made it darker? I used professional hair dye from sally's- believable blonde by ion or something and i used a 30 vol developer if that helps.
Is there anyone who has experience with hair dye who can help me?
First of all let me say tint won't lift tint, period. End of story. No negotiations. Never never never.
To darken only use 10 volume, to lighten 20,30,or 40.
If your hair is in semi decent shape use an effie bath,Sally's has it.
apply on the darkest hair first then apply all over after it lightens up to the other color then when it looks light or at least even, remove.
use a semi permanent or demi permanent color better yet a toner. Then condition A LOT. Always use redken conditioners. I like the color extend line. Total recharge is the best. Follow the directions, and do use it as a lave in as well.
B%26gt;T%26lt;W effie bath is a low volume bleach that is kinda thin and runny so if you can't find effie bath, use wella bleach with 10 volume to a thin like pancake batter consistency ( the powder bleach)

GET TO A HAIRDRESSER!! It is all good and well to colour your hair at home when you are going darker or similar to your natural colour, but believe me, when you are attempting to go lighter, the safest option is to get it professionally done. You could be doing some serious damage to your hair by peroxiding over and over again in the time frame. If you want to be lighter and still look good, let a professional do it

This kind of thing happens when you do it yourself. The worst part is that while you are experimenting with the tones and the brands, your hair is suffering excesive damage. My advice is to have a professional fix your hair problem. You will get exactly what you ask for. Satisfaction is garanteed.

This has happended to me too! The only advice I can give you is just to let all of the color grow out and don't re-color for at least six weeks. Then go to a salon and have them color your hair. If you dye your hair too often, you're doing a lot of damage to it and that's probably what caused the problem!

whenever you go from a darker color to a lighter one, always go to a salon they have the best products that the public can't buy believe me i'm a hairstylist. and after expirimenting all through hair school or should i say cosmetology you come to learn that the products are so different in ingredients and quality. go to a salon.

you could buy hair stripper which would remove all the color giving you a platinum look or you could then dye over it the blonde shade you want. Another neat thing if you like highlights is get a hair bleach kit for about $7 at Sallys. you can then do your hair twice for when it starts to grow out. I went and got the extreme blonde with the cap. it works great... get a friend or husband ,boyfriend etc.. to pull your hair with thin strands through the cap if you do every hole make sure there very thin strands. the end results looks like you got it done at the salon.. make sure you leave it on long enough you don't want orange or brassy highlights(unless you do.) it tool me about 11/2 hours. I has dyed my hair medium brown first. also only mix up half the stuff because you can save the other half to mix up when your roots grow in to do it again. Don't forget to Save the Cap!!! Good Luck!

Tint will not lighten tint, you need to have you hair professionally lightened by a colourist. DON'T go back to Sallys and do it yourself, you are on a path to total hair destruction. I have seen it a thousand times. The products that are available at Sallys are caustic and inferior, save you hair while you still can.
