I want to dye my (not natural) copper red hair an ash brown colour, but will it turn green?

I used One 'n Only Colourfix to lighten my dyed black hair, which lightened it considerably, though it's a copper red colour. I really want medium ash brown hair, but I have heard that it could turn it green, is this true? How can I dye my hair ash brown and have it not turn green?

Also, I REALLY don't want black hair again, and I'm afraid that trying to put brown dye in might make it too dark, I have heard lots of stories where people put in medium or dark brown hair dyes, and end up with jet black... Any suggestions?

bluesky is pretty much right on. Try natural instincts in Tweed, that should get you about where you want to be.

EDIT: I know natural instincts is a level 2 haircolor but trust me in your situation it's going to last at least as long as a level 3 and it will do less damage also.

go to a professional.

GO TO A SALON.

Drastic changes should always be put in the safe hands of a professional stylist.

any of the ash colors has a green base if you mix red and green you get brown

I want to dye my (not natural) copper red hair an ash brown colour, but will it turn green?

use loreal' lite ash brown, believe me if my hair isnt green than no ones should, cuz im the type to dye it black not like it so the same day i bleach it once if not twice, and my hair aint no funky colors

It wont turn green as long as you wait the allowed time before dyeing it again. It will turn if you just dye'd it lets say a week ago and now your dyeing it again because the chemicals of the dye are still fresh and you will be mixing them which can also burn and/or fry your hair. So be cautious and remember to always wait the recommended time before dyeing again!

only ash over blonde or gold would turn green, your safe for that, but as for darkness? i would get just a shade lighter as you're perviously colored and your hair is porus, it will suck up the dye an probably take it a bit darker then planned. it will also probably be less ash then expected as its going over red. happy hair coloring!

I want to dye my (not natural) copper red hair an ash brown colour, but will it turn green?

i dyed my hair from blonde to bright copper red and wanted to go back to blonde without it turning orange, so i tried to gradually lighten it by dyeing it dark ash blonde first. But now it's a reddish brown color, which isn't what i wanted. But after you go red, it's hard to get all of the red out. So i don't think your hair will turn green, but it may still have reddish tones in it. The only ways i really know to get rid of the red completely are to either grow the color out or have your hair stripped/bleached and then dye it your desired color. But if you wouldn't mind possibly having reddish-brown hair, it should be safe to try it. But you should probably try going to a salon at least for advice because they could know how to get the color you want from the color you have.

Does hair dye ruin your scalp?

I already dyed my hair once this month to a darker shade, I really want to dye it back to a lighter shade. Will it ruin my scalp if I dye my hair too soon? If so, how long should I wait until I can do it again?

Does hair dye ruin your scalp?

You need to wait at least 4 weeks; not because of the damage it will do, but because your hair will not come out the right color (in one step) when you try to go lighter.

You need to wash your hair a lot to get that excess dark color out before you can go blonde because two dyes together do not mix, your hair will come out orange!

Just wash it a lot with a shampoo that is not for color treated hair and your color should fade, then it is safe to get your hair colored lighter.

Be sure to use plenty of conditioner, too.

Does hair dye ruin your scalp?

im not sure about the SCALP, but it does ruin your hair

they recommend dying your hair at least 6 months apart and actually yuou probably can dye it twice (my friend did it)

BUT

you have to take special care of it

make sure you don't over dry your hair

or else it will break easily

and i'd suggest getting a trim every 2 months to get rid of damaged hair/split ends

Does hair dye ruin your scalp?

You are okay if you use semipermanent hair color. If it is permanent, you might have to wait a month or so before dying it again.

Does hair dye ruin your scalp?

Dilute hair dye?

I bought a hair dye that is ultra blonde and when I got home I realized that it would be way too dramatic of a change for me. What would happen if I left it in for a shorter amount of time than recommended or if I used less of the dye in the mix? Would it not dye as light, or would I end up with spotted hair?

Dilute hair dye?

Use less of the dye in the mix. Shake it well and it will work fine.

Dilute hair dye?

Take it back and exchange it for what you want. Don't mess around with it or you could have a really bad result.

Dilute hair dye?

mix the dye as directed but dont leave it in long. most dyes require about a thirty minute waiting time. so just leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes. just keep an eye on your hair and when its reached the color you desire, rinse it out. as for the spotting, be sure to completely saturate your hair with the dye then comb it through with a wide tooth comb.

Dilute hair dye?

dont use less of the die in the mix it will get all ****** up. and i have died my hair black and then later bleached it to blonde and it fades out to dark brown brown and then differant blondes but the colors wont be even the roots go quick and the ends take longer

Dilute hair dye?

Make sure you apply it all through your hair, then cut the processing time in half.

Dilute hair dye?

You can dilute it with shampoo, and it will not be as strong. half dye, half shampoo.

Dilute hair dye?

never dilute hair dye this would just make it slimy, leave it on for a shorter amount of time, if you are dying med to dark brown hair and you have a gold tone not a ash tone only for 10 minutes otherwise this will very very brilliant result, ash tones are neutral and do not have red or gold/orange tone in them.

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

I dyed my hair black... i want to take the colour out, is there a hair dye remover... my hair is dry what can i put in it ...

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

lesson learned.

do your homework BEFORE you turn your hair black. when it fades, depending on the color you started with, you might end up dark green hair.

my suggestion would be to wait for a couple of months to let it grow out a bit. once the roots are seriously obvious, wear a hat for a couple of weeks , then cut it off and texturize the ends to blend out the dark ends.

the only other alternative is to bleach it out and color it. the color (will have to be red to counteract the green) will fade quickly (color will not stay on bleached out hair for very long and red molecules fade the fastest) . this will also be exceptionally damaging to your hair and as long as that hair is still on there, the colors from root to end will NEVER blend ( and stay for more than a week).

easiest and fastest way is to cut it off. sorry.

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

i dont think we can remove colour.

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

there is something i have seen before but can't remember the name of it or if it is available at supermarket. good luck

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

All you can do is bleach it and recolouyr. Then start a treatment program to bring the oils back.

Wella is very good for treatments. or hair silicon

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

it depends if the dye was permanent, semi-permanent, or temporary..

Temporary - wash with shampoo a couple of times it will be completely out

Semi-Permanent - wash your hair with dish detergent, if it doesn't lighten it up try dish detergent with a dime size drop of 20 volume developer.

Permanent - there are 3 things you can do at this point..

1 - Bleach it out and dye your hair a diferent color.

2 - Haircolor remover, any that you can buy without having to be a licensed hairdresser are almost as damaging as bleach only it is going to leave your hair a very orangy color. If you go to a licensed professional there are products they can use to get it out, this will still be damaging but it will get it out.

3 - let it grow out

*a well know rule in the beauty industry is that Haircolor can not lift hair color. using a blond dye with a 40 volume developer still will not lighten your hair (in the case that the dye is permanent.)

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

There is a product available from pharmacies and it claims it can strip the colour you just put in and take it back to the natural colour. I've never used it but its supposed to be good. Its called MHD something?

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

Removing the dye will ruin your hair. Black dye is the hardest colour to remove or color over. Unless you want to risk severely drying your hair out, I would recommend just waiting until it grows out or fades on it's own. If you're determined to do it anyway there's a strip kit from Revlon that you can buy. It's name is literally "Dye Remover Kit" and it comes in a White box with red lines and some women on the front. I'm not sure if it works. You can also try bleaching your hair, depending on what brand of dye you used, it may or may not work, but IT WILL dry your hair and leave it an unnatural shade of yellow or orange if it does. Good luck.

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

i do not think there is anything like hair dye remover available. you will have to recolour your hair if you wish to get rid of the black colour.

Help1 Hair dye Remover?!?!?

i dyed my hair black too and i decided on leavin it alone just lettin it grow out... blech well break it off dont do that.. a strippin in it could turn it a diff color i think you should just let it grow out and b4 u know it it will look okay... but dont blech it it will break your hair off

Thanx

Good hair dye that lasts 2 weeks?

I would try not washing the hair, but instead rinsing it. Dont shampoo unless you really need to becauses the shampoo helps the dye come out.

Good hair dye that lasts 2 weeks?

ooooooo hair dye =)

Good hair dye that lasts 2 weeks?

Just buy permanant hair dye. They sell it at Walmart or Target.

Anyone tried loreal preference" for dark hair only" hair dye????

i have natural dark brown hair that tends to pull alot of red. i have dyed my hair many different colors over the years. i just recently (last week) used loreal feria in a drk brown in attempts to make all my hair 1 color. long story short, im bored w/ it. iam thinking of trying loreal preference "for dark hair" i plan on using one that is neutral or cool ( afraid to use an ash cause it turns green!) to avoid brassiness. what do u all think???? will the "for dark hair only" be able to dye OVER my prevoisly dyed dark color???? haS ANYONE TRIED THIS PRODUCT W/ RESULTS THEY WERE HAPPY WITH?? I TRIED THIS PRODUCT (OR PERHAPS THE SIMULAIR CLARIOL ONE FOR DARK HAIR) 1X BEFORE BUT AT THE TIME I HAD MY HAIR COLORED IN A LIGHT TO MED BROWN COLOR ( PART NATURAL/ PART DYED ) AND DIDNT LIKE THE OUTCOME. IAM THINKING IT MAY COME OUT MORE TO MY LIKING DUE TO MY CURRENT HAIR COLOR BEING DARKER THAN LAST TIME and all 1 shade

Anyone tried loreal preference" for dark hair only" hair dye????

This product for dark hair is the only one I use because it always gives me the result I want. I don't think you'll have a problem using it so soon; I've done it before and nothing has ever happened. Just condition your hair properly and try to choose a color that you think you will like so that you don't have to repeat the process so frecuently.

Good luck! !

Good Hair-Dye?

I want to dye my hair a richer brown and be very, say, brunette?

What is a good hair-dye to do this with thats permanent? That I can get @ a drugstore or something?

I have long hair too and its currently half strawberry blonde and tree brown with reddish highlights.

Good Hair-Dye?

Clariol and L'Oreal test on animals so its important to think about that when choosing.

I usually stick with whatever is on sale and that is ammonia free, that would be best for hair.

Garnier Nutrisse is a lot of peoples favorites.

Good Hair-Dye?

you're not going to find any good dyes at a drugstore, go to sally beauty or another beauty supply store that carry quality dyes. my favorite brand for non-professionals is ion professional, second fav is clairol professional. these are sold in sally beauty. if you have blonde hair that you want to make darker, make sure you fill it with a protein filler, a brown or red one that you won't end up with green hair.
