My hair is naturally a brown color, but has tints of almost every other natural color out there, including other browns, red, black, and blonde. I dye it black and I'm about to do it again. But when I dye it pure black, it's all one color, which bores me, so I decided to streak it a dark auburn color. But I'm doing it at home to save money, and I' not completely sure of how to do it. I keep seeing the tin foil method.. But I'm not fully sure how to use it. The hair dye I have has to sit in your hair for 30 minutes and then you rinse it out. I understand that I can pull apart what I want streaked and wrap it in tin foil while I dye the rest black, but then what? Do I keep the foil in when I rinse? And then when all that's done and I do the auburn.. When I rinse it out will it bleed into my hair causing it to change? If someone could help, that'd be GREAT! Please and thank you!
How can I dye my hair and then streak it another color?
it would be best to go to a professional because having to keep the parts of the hair that you want in another color separate with foil or else you are not going to get the color you want.
Avoid the headaches and be satisified and go to a professional.
Good luck

Dying it at home can be risky because you can't really control the color that it will ultimately turn into. My advice -- go to a professional.

I would definitely go to a professional. The colors can bleed into eachother...And basically become a complete mess. Find a good colorist with alot of experience and discuss the different options.

isn't there a new dye on the market that has streaks already in it?
also there are some really good dyes that make highlights and low lights.
there is a nice dye that make the hair glisten, it has some additive in it and it looks really nice.

THere are two ways you can possibly do this, but they both have some risks.
FIRST WAY:
You can you hair all black and then after you rinse you can do the auburn streaks wrapped in tin foil (so that they dont mix with t he other hair). But if you dye it all black - the streaks might now show up too well.
SECOND WAY:
You can dye both sets at the same time by applying the streaks and then wrapping the streak in tin foil. Then you dye the rest of hair black and let it all process and rise it all out together. But you could end up missing some spots of your hair, if you arent careful.
